Today marks a significant step forward for our hardworking farmers in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte. The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) has released insurance benefits to 260 registered farmers at the Triple LIA Compound in Barangay Lopoc. This support is more than just financial assistance; it's a lifeline that helps these families rebuild and sustain their livelihoods in the face of unforeseen challenges. We stand with our farmers, the backbone of our nation, and celebrate their resilience and dedication to feeding our communities.

In our ongoing effort to support sustainable agriculture, the Municipal Agriculture Office is distributing 240 bags of hybrid rice seeds, featuring Longping, BIGANTE PLUS, and Jackpot varieties. To further aid our farmers, we're also providing 200 bags of urea fertilizers, soil conditioners, soil ameliorants, and Bio N for seed treatment. These resources are designed to improve soil health, increase crop resilience, and promote higher survival rates. By equipping our farmers with the best tools and knowledge, we are building a foundation for long-term agricultural success and a more sustainable future for our municipality.

Due to the persistent heavy rainfall affecting our Municipality and adjacent towns, and with the safety of our community as our utmost priority, we have decided to extend the suspension of classes in all public and private schools. Additionally, we are implementing a temporary suspension of fishing activities. These measures are taken to ensure everyone's well-being during this period of inclement weather. Please stay safe and take necessary precautions.

Today, at the Labason Local Government Unit's conference room, a significant assessment took place under the Open Government Partnership (OGP). Some LGU personnel and heads of offices participated, undergoing a comprehensive review focused on enhancing transparency and public access to information. The assessment's core objective is to ensure all LGU transactions are publicly posted, allowing citizens to scrutinize and comment on them. This initiative aims to foster greater accountability and participation in local governance, empowering the community to actively engage in the decision-making processes that affect their lives. By making information readily available and accessible to all, the Labason LGU demonstrates its commitment to open and participatory governance, building trust and strengthening the relationship between the government and its constituents. This is a crucial step towards building a more transparent and responsive local government.
